I am a devoted mother of two incredible daughters, a proud Afro Latina child of Caribbean and Central American immigrants, and a seasoned education professional with more than 20 years of experience serving students, families, and educators.

Our children, families, and educators deserve leadership rooted in experience, integrity, and a deep understanding of our communities.  That is why I am running for the Chicago School Board. My mission is clear: to use my experience, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to strengthen our schools, empower families with real choices and clear information, and ensure policies reflect the needs of every child, and not just a few in the right neighborhoods. I am a proud CPS parent. My youngest daughter is a graduate of Chicago Public Schools and is now in college, living proof of what is possible when students are supported and expectations are high.

My lived experiences shape how I lead. I learned early how critical schools are as gateways to opportunity—and how policy decisions made at the school board level can either remove barriers or reinforce them. I understand the urgency of the issues facing our city today and the responsibility we have to ensure all children are seen, supported, and valued.

Becoming a teacher ignited my passion for education. In my very first class, I saw firsthand the transformative power of a great teacher. From that moment on, my career has been driven by a commitment to students and families. I have served in nearly every role in education—from the classroom to the principal’s office to district leadership—giving me a comprehensive understanding of how our system truly works and where it must improve.

I attended Catholic, private, and public schools, each offering a different experience. My mother understood how to navigate the system to ensure I had access to the right opportunities, and that foundation changed the trajectory of my life. It allowed me to attend Adelphi University for my undergraduate studies and ultimately earn three additional degrees, including a Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Together, we can build one of the strongest education systems in the country and one that truly works for all.
