MEET MICHELLE
Dr. Michelle N. Pierre is a proud Afro-Latina, daughter of Caribbean and Central American immigrants, devoted mother of two daughters, and experienced education leader with nearly 30 years of service in public education.
Michelle has dedicated her life to expanding opportunity for children and strengthening public schools for families and communities. Michelle’s belief in the power of education comes from personal experience.
Her strong educational foundation led Michelle to earn four degrees, including a Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Certificate in School Board Budgeting from Georgetown University.
Dr. Michelle Pierre began her career as a teacher in New York City Public Schools and quickly discovered her passion for helping students succeed. Over nearly three decades, she has served in almost every level of education leadership—from teacher and principal to district executive.
Throughout her career, Michelle has focused on improving instructional quality, expanding college- and career-ready opportunities, and ensuring schools provide students with both academic excellence and strong support systems.
She has worked closely with educators, families, community leaders, and organizations to strengthen school communities and ensure students are prepared for success in school and in life.
Michelle is a proud CPS parent. Her youngest daughter graduated from Chicago Public Schools and is now attending college.
Dr. Michelle Pierre is committed to strengthening literacy and career pathways, empowering families through transparency and engagement, and ensuring fair and responsible school funding across the district. Michelle also believes that her background provides the knowledge and skills to actually BRING REAL CHANGE.
Together, Chicago can build one of the strongest public education systems in the country, where every child is prepared for the future, and every family has confidence that their voice matters.
